ABOUT
Why a fanlisting? I grew up listening to Dr. Drew on Loveline, which was then carried on WMRQ in Hartford, Connecticut. I was a "troubled teen," as people like to say, and I never quite connected with any of the therapists to whom I was referred. Although I wasn't a "bad" kid by any measure, I did needed someone who was able to work well with teenagers, and that's something very hard to find among therapists. For some reason, Dr. Drew became my fill-in therapist. Many of the callers asked him questions that summed up my own problems, and I was able to benefit greatly from the advice he gave them. I sought out help for problems I'd kept hidden for years because I trusted his advice and resolved a lot of issues I wouldn't have otherwise worked on. In later years, as I watched some loved ones suffer from addiction in its various forms, Dr. Drew once more helped me understand things and deal with situations in better ways. His book Cracked: Putting Broken Lives Together Again helped me to understand the decisions loved ones made and why simply "stopping" their addictions wasn't a possibility. Now that Dr. Pinsky's caring manner is even more appreciated due to the success of Celebrity Rehab, I'm happy to provide a place for people to share their respect for him and what he does for so many people, both directly and – like in my case – without even realizing it. If you have similar feelings, please feel free to join the listing.
