ALBUM
Released in October 1997, So Much for the Afterglow was the third album by Oregon alternative rock
band Everclear. It is best known for the very successful singles "Everything to Everyone," "I Will Buy
You a New Life," and especially "Father of Mine," each of which helped to catapult Everclear to mainstream
success through both heavy radio and music video rotation. The album also included the song "El Distorto
de Melodica," which was nominated for Best Instrumental Rock Song at the 1998 Grammys, giving Everclear
their first and so far only Grammy nomination. The album helped Everclear win the Modern Rock Band of the
Year Award at the 1998 Billboard Music Awards and went double platinum by the end of its first year of
release.
